OVERTIME WHINERS AND A VERY BAD BEAT

With the exception of the result, Sunday’s 26 to 20 Seahawks OT win versus Denver was everything that Super Bowl XLVIII was not. From the second Manny Ramirez sent the first snap of THAT game zooming past a wide eyed Peyton Manning the rout was on. And while the rematch was one sided for much of [...]

By |2020-04-02T16:57:17-07:00September 16th, 2014|

Few things in life are more fun than gathering for a big meal with family and friends. It’s in our very nature as human beings to crave both food and camaraderie. This phenomenon crosses generations, cultures, and all the years of history. Since the beginning of our existence we’ve enjoyed sitting down with loved ones and [...]

THE DRAMATIC IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON THE FAN EXPERIENCE

The Seahawks, for obvious reasons, have never been as popular as they are now. “Real” 12s like to dispute this and will tell you the Hawks have always been this big. That conveniently overlooks the fact that the team failed to sell out four of the first nine games played in what is now Century Link [...]

EXCERPT FROM “SOUNDERS FC: AUTHENTIC MASTERPIECE” -THE ROLE PUBS PLAYED

By |2020-04-02T16:57:18-07:00February 13th, 2014|

CHAPTER SIX April 25, 2009 Seattle, Washington   “These kids know what a beer’s for!”   Ever since pro sports arrived in earnest in Seattle -- which is to say when the Kingdome opened in 1976 -- Pioneer Square eating and drinking establishments have been within a Kasey Keller goalkick of the action. Consider that the [...]

Long before he’d become a two time NFL All-pro, long before he’d established himself as a cornerback so thorough and devastating at his job he was best ignored by opposing quarterbacks, long before he tipped Colin Kaepernick’s final pass of the NFC Championship game into the air and then into the hands of Malcom Smith to [...]

HAWKS-NINERS: IT ALL STARTED OVER A SHARPIE

By |2020-04-02T16:57:18-07:00January 17th, 2014|

Perhaps we should have known it was going to be great from the very start. Or at least from the point when they started meeting as division rivals 12 seasons ago. The Seahawks versus the Forty Niners has developed into a rivalry that sits atop the NFL in terms of the ABC’s of such things: animosity, [...]

TOP CONCERN FOR HAWKS GAME WEARS #9.

By |2020-04-02T16:57:18-07:00January 10th, 2014|

Puck, Furness, and Jerry Brewer. What the hell? I was listening to KJR this week and heard a long discussion between Ian Furness and Jason Puckett on concerns they might have for Saturday’s divisional playoff game versus New Orleans. Not surprisingly the list became somewhat of an exercise in the trivial. The Seahawks have been [...]

2011 SEAHAWKS SAINTS PLAYOFF GAME PRODUCED MEMORABLE LAST HURRAH FOR A SEATTLE LEGEND

By |2020-04-02T16:57:18-07:00January 7th, 2014|

January 8th, 2011 had started exactly the way most so-called NFL  experts predicted it would which was bad news for the 66,366 who had made their way into what was then known as Qwest Field. The heavily favored and defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints had jumped out to a 10 to 0 lead in [...]
